GMO Soybeans & Sustainability
Producing stable food yields for a growing world population is a major challenge for agriculture. Soil erosion, water shortages, climate change and shrinking farmland pose serious threats to essential resources, while human needs continue to grow. But what is the concept behind sustainability and can GM crops (e.g. herbicide tolerant soybeans) help us move towards a sustainable form of agriculture?

Dr. Berg talks about soy oil and the difficulty of finding non-GMO soy oil. Most soy in the US is GMO, which means it has residual herbicides (glyphosate) in it.
Find a dressing that is NOT GMO or make it yourself. If it's organic, chances are it's non-GMO. Soy, corn, and canola most of the time are GMO but not labeled.

Health Risks of GMO Soy
HEALTH RISKS OF GMO SOY - THEY AREN'T THE SAME. SO WHY DOES OUR GOV'T CONTINUE TO ALLOW THEM?
According to the latest research, genetically modified soy accumulates formaldehyde which is a chemical carcinogen. GMO soy is not equivalent to its non-GMO counterpart, and therefore is not safe for human consumption. - See more at: http://thewbconfession.com

How a GMO is made
First, scientists look for a desired trait in a plant, animal or even bacteria. It could be a trait like resistance to insects or a certain disease. When they find one, scientists copy the genetic code that contains that trait and insert it into the DNA of the crop they want to improve.
Scientists then grow that plant in a research greenhouse and then in test plots to see if it adopts the desired trait. For every trait in a GMO that makes it to market, more than 6,000 others are screened and tested.
GMOs are tested to make sure they are safe to grow, safe to eat, and safe for the environment. After years of research and testing and approvals, a successful GMO crop can be planted by farmers for food, animal feed, fiber, or biofuel.
